Is this real silk?
Yes, 100% mulberry silk. The satin pyjama sets elsewhere on this site are a weave in polyester or viscose, and this is the fibre itself.
What does grade 6A mean?
It is a supplier grading for the length and consistency of the raw silk filament. It describes the yarn rather than certifying anything independently, so read it as a supplier's description.
What momme weight is it?
It is not published for this set, and we would rather say so than copy a figure from a neighbouring product. Our silk boxer shorts and the men's dressing gown are both 19 momme. Ask us and we will get the number from the supplier.
What is charmeuse?
A way of weaving silk that leaves one face glossy and the other matt. It is what gives a silk pyjama set its drape and its shine.
What is in the set?

What sizes are there?
Small and Large. There is no medium on this listing.
Which size should I choose?
Silk has no stretch in it, so the fit matters more than it would in a jersey. If you are between the two, the Large is the safer choice for sleeping in.

Can I machine wash it?
Yes, cold on a gentle cycle with a silk detergent, ideally in a mesh bag. You can also dry clean it. Never bleach it and never wash it hot.
Can it go in the tumble dryer?
No. Hang it to dry away from direct heat and sunlight. Heat is what shortens the life of silk.
Does it need ironing?
Sometimes, and always on the reverse at a cool setting. A hot iron glazes silk and the mark stays.
Will it shrink?
Not if you wash it cold. Hot water is the risk, as with any natural fibre.
Will the colour fade?
Slowly, mostly from sunlight rather than washing. Dry it in the shade.
Does the red bleed?
Give it its own first wash, as any saturated dye on silk should have.
How long will it last?
That depends on care. Heat, bleach and direct sun are what age silk, so wash it cold and dry it in the shade.
Does silk snag easily?
It is smooth, but it is a natural fibre and a ring or a rough nail can pull a thread. Worth knowing rather than a reason not to own one.
Is it noisy in bed?
No, it is quiet and it slides. On silk or satin sheets the two together can be more movement than you want.
How does it compare to the satin sets?
Different fabric, different price. The satin sets are EUR 69 in a polyester or viscose weave. This is real silk at EUR 189.
Is it worth the difference?

The real fibre, in a long set
This is 100% mulberry silk, graded 6A, woven as charmeuse so one face is glossy
and the other is soft and matt. It is a long sleeve top with full length bottoms,
in blue, pink, red or white, in Small and Large.
Silk has no stretch in it, which is the one thing to keep in mind when
choosing. If you are between the two sizes, take the Large: sleepwear that pulls
across the shoulders when you turn over is not worth the saving.
What silk actually does, and what it does not
It is a natural fibre, woven here as charmeuse, so it is smooth with a sheen
on one face.
What it does not do is any of the things the old listing promised. There is no
skin moisturising effect, no anti-ageing benefit and no medical claim to make
here, and we have taken all of that off the page. The fibre is good enough
without it.
