What is in the set?
Two pieces: a long sleeve top and full length bottoms. There is no robe or bag included.
Is this real silk?
No. It is satin, which describes how the fabric is woven rather than what it is made from. Our mulberry silk pyjamas are the real fibre and cost more.
Then why is it called satin silk?
That is the name the range has carried for years and we have kept it so the product stays findable. The specification on this page says satin, because that is what it is.
What fibre is the satin?
We do not have a published fibre content for this set, so we are not going to guess one. Most satin sleepwear at this price is polyester or a viscose blend. Ask us before you order if it matters to you and we will get the answer from the supplier.
How is it different from the summer set?
Sleeve and leg length. This one has long sleeves and full length bottoms. The summer set is short sleeved with shorts.
Is it warm enough for winter?
It covers arms and legs, which is most of the difference. Satin itself is light rather than insulating, so it suits a heated bedroom rather than a cold one.
What sizes do you sell?
M, L and XL, in both colours.
What are the measurements?
M is 104cm around the chest with a 68cm top and 96cm trousers, L is 112cm with a 70cm top and 98cm trousers, and XL is 124cm with a 70cm top and 100cm trousers. The supplier also suggests 65 to 75kg, 75 to 85kg and 85 to 100kg for the three sizes.
What if I order the wrong size?
You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind under EU consumer law, as long as the set comes back unworn and in resaleable condition.

Does the blue photograph accurately?
Close. It is a mid navy blue that reads darker in low light than it does on a bright screen.
Does the top have pockets?
The top has a chest pocket. The bottoms have an elasticated waist and no drawstring.
Can I wear it as loungewear?
Yes. A button through satin top is closer to a shirt than most pyjamas, so plenty of people wear it around the house rather than only in bed.
Can I machine wash it?
Yes, cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and no bleach. Wash it inside out to protect the finish.
Can it go in the tumble dryer?
Low heat only, and it is better hung to dry. Heat is what dulls a satin finish and makes it pill.
Does it need ironing?
Rarely. If you do iron it, use a cool setting on the reverse, because a hot iron will mark satin permanently.
Will it shrink?
Not if you wash it cold. Hot water is the risk with any blended fabric.
Does the colour run?
Give the black its own first wash to be safe. After that it is fine with similar colours.
Does satin snag?
It can. A rough nail, a watch strap or a velcro fastening will pull a thread, and that is true of any smooth woven fabric.
Is it noisy or slippery in bed?
It is smooth, so it slides against smooth sheets. On cotton bedding you will not notice.
Is it suitable for hot sleepers?
Less so than silk. A synthetic satin holds warmth rather than moving it, so if you run hot at night the real silk range is a better fit.
Is it hypoallergenic?
We do not make that claim. If you have sensitive skin, the mulberry silk range is a natural protein fibre and is what most people with that concern choose.
Is it a good gift?

Can I have it embroidered?
Yes. Embroidery and monogramming is a separate item on this site and it is added to the same order.

Living with it
Wash it cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, with a mild detergent and no
bleach. Hang it to dry, or tumble on low if you must. Heat is what dulls a satin
finish, so keep the iron cool and work on the reverse. Give the black its own
first wash, as with any saturated dye.
Satin snags on rough nails, watch straps and velcro, which is worth knowing
rather than a reason to avoid it. It also holds warmth rather than moving it, so
if you sleep hot, the
