It is a lighter weight than our 22 momme pillowcases, as bed sheets generally are. A pillowcase takes concentrated wear in one small area; a sheet spreads it, so sheeting silk is woven lighter to drape properly.

Black and white. The colour range is deliberately narrower than the pillowcases because sheets are bought to sit under everything else rather than to be the feature.

Yes, cold and on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, no bleach. Line dry or tumble on low. A silk sheet is a large item, so make sure it has room to move in the drum.

Rarely. Silk drops most of its creases as it hangs on the bed. If you want it flat, iron on the reverse at a cool setting.

Neither, which is the point. Silk sits closer to your own temperature than cotton does, so the same sheet suits summer and winter. It feels cool when you first get in and does not trap heat the way flannel does.

It is smooth, and some people take a night or two to get used to it. It does not slide off the bed if it is tucked properly, but a silk sheet under a silk duvet cover can be more movement than you want.

Years with cold gentle washing. What kills silk sheeting is hot water, bleach and a hot dryer, in that order.
